According to this article MediaTek and Qualcomm is coming out with a reference design for a dual core smartphone targetting at entry level market. Entry level market is the fastest growing market that any vendor can tape into, this market consist of people who hasn’t own Android device and are thinking of switching to a different kind of phone. The target pricing they are trying to target is US$157.
This means that single core Android phones will be selling for much less that what they are selling at the moment, which is always a welcoming news for the consumer. In the world of Android consumer are spoilt with choices and now they are now getting more spoilt with the introduction of dual core processor for lower prices phones.
