Not many Android people heard or even use MIPS based devices which is understandable as they are under the radar pretty much most of the time when it comes to Android. But not in the future, currently they are releasing new processors that will challenge ARM’s Cortex – they are called proAptiv, interAptiv and microAptiv. This move is cemented with last week’s release 8 of the NDK with support for the MIPS architecture. Release 8 includes required tools, system headers, libraries and debugging support for MIPS.
